Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses causing less-severe disease such as the common cold and others causing more severe disease. Those have fallen ill are reported to suffer coughs, fever and breathing difficulties, loss of taste and or smell. As this is viral pneumonia, antibiotics are of no use. Anti viral drugs may be used but usually only to lessen the severity of symptoms.
The surgery is operating a triage model of services which means that your GP consultation will be by telephone or video consultation and only if the GP believes you need to be seen in practice, will you then be offered a face to face appointment.
Post natal checks and Childhood immunisations are carrying on as usual in the practice and you should not miss these appointments. Urgent recall for smear testing is also being provided in the surgery and if you have had a recall letter, you should call the surgery for an appointment.
If you are on Warfarin or immunosuppressant drugs, your usual blood monitoring will continue and you should call the surgery on 020 8795 6152 for more information.
We hope to resume routine smear testing, routine bloods, routine and travel vaccinations, minor surgery including Joint Injections soon.
